INTRODUCTION

Based in Toronto, Ulula is a software and analytics platform that connects directly and anonymously with workers and communities around the world. Their platform obtains honest feedback and creates more transparent and responsible supply chains.

Ulula is a social enterprise that aims to improve working conditions in mining, manufacturing and agribusiness by sourcing and processing accurate and timely insights directly from workers around the world.

They are searching for an experienced Telecom Consultant to join their project in Nairobi, Kenya.    This is a temporary work opportunity. The assignment is to be completed within 15 working days by 30 September 2022 with potential for additional consulting work.

DELIVERABLE

  • Setup the Internet connection modem to communicate with the local infrastructure.
  • Recharge/ troubleshoot connectivity issues on the mobile lines
  • Setup the equipment’s networks
  • Download logs and help with troubleshooting
  • Setup VoIP accounts and related advanced options
  • Investigate the local market for options
  • Perform necessary tasks to obtain required services for local providers
  • To be completed within 15 day period as detailed

Activities that will support the outlined deliverables:

Under the guidance of the Telecom Engineer and Deployment Lead (based in Toronto, Canada)

  • Set up the project telecom system
  • Test and maintain the system operations throughout the project period
  • Collaborate with Ulula tech team to troubleshoot any problems that arise

SCHEDULE OF PAYMENT

  • Mode and timing of payment will be as agreed by Ulula and the consultant

CONSULTANT CHARACTERISTICS

  • Knowledge of Internet business package options and delivery methods such as 4G, DSL, fiber.
  • Basis networking (modem/router IP addressing, DNS, port forwarding, etc).
  • Basic VoIP knowledge (sip accounts, ports, numbers, etc).
  • Basic Mobile network knowledge (distinguish between operators, number format, USSD, signal levels, etc).
  • Ability to interact with local customer service providers and efficiently explain the problem
  • Basic network component identification (cat5/6 cable, straight, cross, fiber cables, mobile antennas, etc).
  • Team player
  • Quick to problem solve

A consultant with a proven track record in the above will be procured to undertake the project through an expression of interest process.
