NTDs Programme Manager

Sightsavers is setting up a team based in Bissau to work closely with the Ministry of Health and stakeholders in order to ensure effective implementation and management of the Sightsavers supported NTD projects.

Contract: 1 year fixed term contract (with a view to extend this)

The purpose of the NTDs Programme Manager will be to lead on programmatic management for the implementation of trachoma, onchocerciasis, lymphatic filariasis, soil transmitted helminths and schistosomiasis and on integration of mass drug administration against NTDs

As the Programme Manager you will be responsible for delivering NTD programme targets, provision of programme management guidance and direct technical support to build the development of integrated NTD programmes and advocacy for the elimination of NTDs in Guinea Bissau.

You will participate in strategic planning processes to successfully drive the direction and delivery to ensure objectives are met in line with the priorities of the Ministry of Health of Guinea Bissau and Sightsavers’ NTD priorities. You will provide effective management, coordination, technical advice and resource allocation necessary to support the Ministry of Health to deliver NTD targets, provide direction and support Sightsavers country office team to identify operational research opportunities and develop relationships with other NGOs to support funding and delivery of services, including NGOs in the WASH sector.

As the successful candidate you will possess a postgraduate degree in public health, biology or parasitology (or equivalent), have significant experience of strategic programme development, technical knowledge of one or more of the five leading NTDs, have a background of working and/or managing an integrated NTD programme – ideally in Guinea Bissau. You will have a good understanding of the health system of Guinea Bissau and be able to demonstrate a record of accomplishment in developing and managing public health programmes.

This position will require regular national and international travel.
