Sightsavers is seeking a tenacious, committed and experienced communications professional to join the organisation at a very exciting time for our work. With 2018’s Global Disability Summit and this year’s launch of the World Health Organization’s World Report on Vision, Sightsavers and partners are scaling up their work to prevent avoidable blindness and ensure people with disabilities participate equally in global development.

As part of this, you will lead the Communications team and work with other colleagues to develop, deliver and evaluate integrated communication campaigns and lead high-profile communications activities to raise awareness of our disability inclusive development programmes our eye health and education programmes as well as our groundbreaking research. You will also be responsible for leading on delivering engaging and creative digital content for a variety of audiences and overseeing the team’s work with relevant teams, designers, suppliers and agencies.

You will also help to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including INGOs, donors, academic and research bodies and coalition groups. You will also work closely with the policy and advocacy, institutional funding and research teams, as well as other communication teams, to ensure departmental success, learnings and opportunities are communicated and contribute towards continuous improvement in communications across Sightsavers.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in a communications role, will be degree educated or have significant related experience or strong commitment to this area, be able to demonstrate prior work across a wide range of communication channels, have team leadership experience and strong project management skills and show interest in global health, disability rights and international development.
